iPhone 16 Camera Disappointment Sparks Debate Among Users-Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Says Apple Killed it
January 23, 2025: iPhone Camera Criticised: Users Eye Google’s Pixel for Superior Photography
A heated debate has erupted online after a prominent iPhone user expressed dissatisfaction with the device’s camera performance, calling it “so bad” that it has left him reconsidering his choice. He even hinted at switching to a rival brand, Google’s Pixel, and asked his followers if they were facing similar struggles.

“I am surprised how the iPhone killed its camera (software/app) so badly in iOS 16. It is so bad that I am seriously thinking of a Pixel now. Anyone else going through the same struggles?” wrote Mr. Sharma in his post.
The post quickly gained traction, with several users sharing their experiences and frustrations.

Former Google executive Parminder Singh echoed the sentiment, commenting, “Similar experience. Something’s seriously wrong with either the camera or the app.”
Radhika Gupta, Managing Director and CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund, added, “The Pixel is fab! Migrated from iPhone to it.”
Many users shared their opinions, with one remarking, “iPhone 6 was the last iPhone with innovation. Later ones are more glamorous with technical features. Now the last three versions are just replicas.”
Another user stated, “Yes, sir. I’ve used all Pixels, recently got an iPhone – can’t wait to go back. Pixel 9 is fast and with that camera, it’s different. Go for it.”
While some users acknowledged that videos remain a strong suit for the iPhone, others highlighted the inconsistent photo quality. “Only portrait mode photos look better, but the locking mechanism is annoying. Videos are still good, though,” noted one commenter.
Several users praised Google’s Pixel series for its advanced computational photography, which often compensates for less robust hardware with superior software algorithms.
“It’s interesting to note that Google’s Pixel phones are known for their advanced computational photography, which often outshines traditional camera hardware. Apple’s focus on sleek design sometimes compromises functionality in software updates,” one user explained.
Others pointed to a broader decline in Apple’s “Innovation Quotient.” A user remarked, “Apple has already lost its ‘Innovation Quotient,’ and this is visibly obvious in the last 3-4 years. The brand overwhelms but defies logic.”
Another added, “iPhone needs to make serious amendments in the next upgrades to keep intact its customers.”
The growing dissatisfaction highlights a potential gap in Apple’s approach to camera software optimisation, especially when competitors like Google Pixel are gaining ground with their cutting-edge photographic capabilities. The debate continues to spark discussions on social media as users weigh the trade-offs between design, functionality, and innovation in their next smartphone purchase.
