July 31, 2025: People who want to get the new iPhone 17 models from Apple may have to pay more. According to Edison Lee, an analyst at Jefferies, the investment banking firm thinks that most, if not all, of the iPhone 17 models will cost $50 more. The normal iPhone 17, the rumored iPhone 17 “Air” (which is supposed to replace the Plus model), the iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max are all part of this.

The expected price increase is mostly due to increased costs of parts and tariffs on items coming from China that are still in place. Apple has tried in the past to cover these costs, but the changing market and rising production costs seem to be making a price change for the 2025 iPhone series unavoidable. Some rumors say that Apple would try to explain the higher price by talking about new features and design changes instead of directly attributing it to tariffs.

The base model of the iPhone 16 costs $799, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max costs $1,199. The beginning costs for the iPhone 17 series could be as low as $50 more than they are now.

The iPhone 17 costs about $849, which is more than the iPhone 16’s $799.

If this price goes up, it will be the first time since the iPhone 11 Pro in 2019 that the iPhone Pro model breaks the psychological $1,000 barrier.

Apple is slated to show off the iPhone 17 series in its customary early September window, perhaps between September 8 and 11, 2025. Pre-orders will probably start soon after that. Along with the pricing changes, rumors say that the new lineup will include big improvements in design and performance, such as better camera systems, faster processors (perhaps A19 and A19 Pro chips), and a slimmer profile, especially for the new “Air” model. There are also rumors that the iPhone 17 Pro models will have a new camera configuration with an amazing 8x optical zoom.
