Pakistan Flight’s Terrifying Encounter With Sandstorm Caught on Camera-Watch

Passengers of Flight FL-842 faced intense turbulence and zero visibility as Lahore landing aborted.

May 26, 2025: Passengers on a Fly Jinnah flight from Karachi to Lahore faced a harrowing experience on May 24, when the aircraft was engulfed by a powerful sandstorm during landing at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport.

Intense Turbulence, Abort Landing:
According to Gulf News, the sandstorm led to poor visibility and violent turbulence, forcing air traffic control to instruct the pilot to abort the landing. The flight, designated FL-842, was then forced to return to Karachi.

Terrifying Moments Onboard:
Viral videos shared by passengers showed the aircraft shaking violently as the storm took hold, with some passengers holding onto their seats and others praying as the plane struggled against the storm’s ferocity.

“The landing seemed routine at first. But as soon as the wheels touched the ground, a powerful sandstorm engulfed the plane. Within seconds, we were airborne again. The next 10 to 12 minutes were some of the scariest of my life. The plane was being thrown around violently, visibility was zero, and it felt like we were caught in a cyclone,” recounted one passenger to Gulf News.

Wider Impact:
ARY News reported that another flight, this one from Islamabad to Lahore, was also diverted to Karachi due to the same extreme weather conditions.

This incident follows closely on the heels of an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Srinagar facing similar challenges due to a violent storm and hailstones near Pathankot. The flight required IAF assistance to land safely.
