The incident occurred as Flight FR6080, a Boeing 737, was taxiing to its designated stand post-landing. According to an official statement from Ryanair, the aircraft’s wing tip struck a fence, but all passengers disembarked safely, and no injuries were reported.
“This flight from London Stansted to Kalamata (18 June) was taxiing to stand when the wing tip came in contact with a fence,” said a Ryanair spokesperson. “The aircraft subsequently continued to stand, and passengers disembarked normally.”
Passengers on board described the flight as bumpy, with one traveler telling The Sun that the journey was plagued by “severe turbulence”. Upon landing, many reportedly heard a “loud banging sound” inside the cabin, sparking momentary panic before the crew confirmed safe arrival.
Images from the tarmac showed the damaged wing visibly misaligned from its normal position. Emergency services arrived at the scene promptly, but their intervention was precautionary as no injuries or fire hazards were detected.
Following the fence collision, the Boeing 737 underwent thorough inspection and maintenance checks. Ryanair confirmed that the aircraft was cleared and has since returned to operational service.
This incident adds to a growing list of runway-related mishaps in 2025. Just last week, a JetBlue Airbus A220 veered off the runway during landing at Boston Logan International Airport, prompting emergency evacuations.
