Which Smartphones Are Truly 'Made in India'? Here's the Full List
June 18, 2025: India has emerged as a major hub for smartphone manufacturing, with both domestic and global brands establishing a strong presence to meet the demands of the rapidly growing market.
Among the most prominent Indian smartphone brands are Lava, Micromax, Karbonn, Xolo, and Intex. These homegrown companies have played a significant role in providing affordable smartphones to millions of users, especially in rural and semi-urban areas. While some of these brands faced stiff competition from Chinese manufacturers in recent years, they are gradually making a comeback with updated models and improved technology.
In addition to Indian companies, global giants such as Samsung, Xiaomi, and Realme have also invested heavily in manufacturing facilities across India. These companies have set up large production plants under the Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative, which encourages local manufacturing and reduces dependency on imports.
Samsung, for instance, operates one of the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturing facilities in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Xiaomi and Realme, meanwhile, have established multiple assembly lines in states like Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, employing thousands of workers and contributing significantly to the country’s electronics manufacturing sector.
This growing ecosystem has positioned India as a key player in the global smartphone supply chain. Industry experts believe that as technology advances and domestic manufacturing capabilities improve, India is well on its way to becoming a major smartphone export hub.
