‘The Bear’ bags trophy for Best Comedy Series: Golden Globes 2024

The Hollywood Reporter says that “The Bear” got the 2024 Golden Globe Award for best comedy series on Sunday. “The Bear” stars Ayo Edebiri as Sydney, who won a Golden Globe. Jeremy Allen White got the award for best performance by an actor for his part in the TV show. The American comedy-drama TV show “The Bear” was created by Christopher Storer. It first aired on Hulu on June 23, 2022. Jeremy Allen White plays a young, award-winning cook who goes back to Chicago to run his late brother’s sandwich shop’s chaotic kitchen. Lionel Boyce, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Liza Colon-Zayas, Abby Elliott, and Matty Matheson are in the supporting group.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the FX-produced Hulu show won three awards at the Globes. Ayo Edebiri and Jeremy Allen White both won awards for their main acting. Also on Saturday, “The Bear” got four Emmys at the Creative Arts awards, which were pushed back from September. It was a big weekend for the show. The Bear beat Abbott Elementary on ABC (which won the award last year), Barry on HBO, Jury Duty on Freevee, Only Murders in the Building on Hulu, and Ted Lasso on Apple TV+ to win the Globes.

The Bear’s popularity went through the roof after its second season. According to Nielsen, more than 3.5 billion minutes of watching time were spent on Hulu in the five weeks after its premiere. The show was nominated for 13 Emmys for season two, including one for Best Comedy Series. Lionel Boyce, who was in the cast, reluctantly took the Globe for Best Comedy. He told them, “I don’t know why they chose me” to give the speech. The Hollywood Reporter said, “I guess maybe we thought we wouldn’t win.” The 81st Golden Globes are being held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
