The Great Indian Kapil Show Review: Kajol Brings Charm, But Overused Gags and Forced Humour Sink the Episode

October 27, 2024: In Season 2, Episode 6 of The Great Indian Kapil Show, Kapil Sharma welcomed the cast and crew of Do Patti, including Kajol, Shaheer Sheikh, producer Kanika Dhillon, and lead actress Kriti Sanon. The show started with mild laughter, but soon took a turn with recycled jokes and forced humour.

The episode was hijacked by over-the-top mimicry from Ajay Devgn’s upcoming Singham Again cast characters. Kapil’s team brought out imitations of Tiger Shroff, Jackie Shroff, Akshay Kumar, and Ajay Devgn, though the exaggerated portrayals quickly became tiresome. Krushna Abhishek’s mimicry of Jackie Shroff, once entertaining, felt overused, while Kiku Sharda’s impersonation of Tiger Shroff struggled to hit the mark.

In a surprising misstep, even Sunil Grover failed to deliver his usual punch while imitating Ajay Devgn. With the Do Patti film barely mentioned, it felt more like “No Patti” as Kriti tried to redirect the conversation towards the movie. Despite being a big television star, Shaheer Sheikh received minimal screen time, and Kanika Dhillon was virtually ignored after her initial appearance.

Kajol, however, added a refreshing energy, even managing to rival Archana Puran Singh’s signature laughter. However, Kapil’s usual jokes felt stale, with recycled lines like “Did you ever imagine you’d come to the Kapil show?” making the humor feel forced.

Overall, this episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show fell flat despite Kajol’s presence. The show is in desperate need of fresh material and perhaps a new direction if it wants to engage viewers again.
