November 21, 2024: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently attended the screening of The Sabarmati Report, a film starring Vikrant Massey, in Lucknow. Also present at the screening was Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak.
This screening comes after a meeting between Yogi Adityanath and Vikrant Massey earlier this week, where the two discussed the film. The Chief Minister shared a picture from the meeting on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Today, film actor Shri Vikrant Massey made a courtesy visit to the government residence in Lucknow.”
Vikrant, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the praise he received from the UP CM. Sharing the same picture on his Instagram, he wrote, “Today got an opportunity to meet Hon’ble Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Their appreciation has inspired the entire team of #TheSabarmatiReport. Heartfelt thanks for this respect and affection.”
The film, directed by Dheeraj Sarna, has already garnered attention from key political figures. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently praised The Sabarmati Report for shedding light on the 2002 Godhra train coach-burning incident, describing it as a significant film.
Responding to a post on X by a user who praised the movie, the PM wrote, “Well said. It is good that this truth is coming out, and that too in a way common people can see it. A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period. Eventually, the facts will always come out!”
The film is based on real-life events surrounding the burning of the S-6 coach of the Sabarmati Express in Godhra. The incident, which occurred in 2002, remains a deeply contentious and sensitive chapter in India’s history. The Sabarmati Report aims to depict the reality of the incident and has sparked discussions about the portrayal of such sensitive topics in cinema.
The movie has already received recognition from several prominent figures. Union Health Minister and BJP national president JP Nadda also attended a special screening of the film, where he praised the filmmakers for their effort to bring the truth to the public. Nadda said, “This movie is based on facts… It depicts the real stories that happened…This film depicts the reality of the Godhra incident.”
The film is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan and is being hailed as a bold attempt to present a truthful account of a pivotal moment in recent Indian history.
