š®š³ Indian Navy Strikes Karachi Port, Opens Naval Front Against Pakistan For First Time Since 1971-Report
New Delhi, May 9, 2025 ā
For the first time since the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war, the Indian Navy has opened a direct front against Pakistan, launching missile strikes on Karachi Port and key naval installations late Thursday night. The strikes come as a retaliatory response to Pakistanās intensified cross-border drone and missile attacks targeting Indian civilian and military areas.
Multiple explosions were reported near Karachiās coastline, sparking panic. Reports confirm that significant damage was inflicted on Pakistani naval infrastructure.
Indiaās maritime offensive has drawn immediate historical parallels to the legendary Operation Trident (Dec 4, 1971) and Operation Python (Dec 8, 1971), where Indian missile boats wreaked havoc on Karachiās naval and oil infrastructure:
December 4 is now commemorated as Indian Navy Day in honour of this daring operation.
Amid rising Indo-Pak tensions, the Western Fleet from Mumbai is on full operational alert. Government sources confirm the fleet is āfully deployed and preparedā to respond to any further Pakistani provocation.
Following the May 7 Operation Sindoor, in which India targeted 9 terror camps across Pakistan and PoK, India had avoided hitting military assets. That changed after Pakistanās drone and missile barrage on Jammu, Punjab, and Rajasthan, prompting a calibrated yet forceful naval retaliation.
Both nations have now issued overlapping naval firing notifications:
This 4-day overlap in the Arabian Sea heightens the risk of maritime confrontation.
