🏆 “I Am Not Retiring,” Says Rohit

At 38, Rohit’s future in the ODI format was a major talking point ahead of the Champions Trophy final, especially with the next big ICC event, the 2027 ODI World Cup, still two years away. However, Rohit dismissed the rumors with a firm statement:

🗣️ “I am not going to retire from this format. Just to make sure no rumors are spread moving forward. Koi future plan hai nahi, jo chal raha hai chalega (there is no future plan, whatever is going on will continue as it is).”

🏏 Leading from the Front in the Final

Rohit delivered his best-ever performance in an ICC final, playing a match-defining knock of 76 (83 balls, 7 fours, 3 sixes). His aggressive batting set the tone for India’s chase of 252 runs, making him the only Indian captain after Sourav Ganguly to score a 50+ score in an ICC Champions Trophy final.

Most runs in ICC finals: 322 in 11 innings (Avg. 32.20)
Surpasses his previous best of 66 in the 2008 CB Series Final

🏆 A Stalwart in Indian Cricket

Rohit also credited India’s experienced core for keeping the hunger alive:

🗣️ “There is a lot of hunger even in guys who have played a lot of cricket, and it rubs down on the younger players. We have five to six players who are real stalwarts. It makes the job easier for all of us.”

With this Champions Trophy win, Rohit Sharma cements his place as one of India’s most successful captains, having led India to two ICC titles in less than a year – the T20 World Cup 2024 and Champions Trophy 2025.

🏆 What’s Next for Rohit?

With no plans to retire, Rohit will likely continue leading India in ODIs, ensuring a smooth transition before the 2027 ODI World Cup. As one of India’s most decorated leaders, his presence remains vital for the team’s stability.
