June 4, 2025 | A tragic mass shooting in Toronto’s Lawrence Heights neighborhood of North York has left one person dead and five others hospitalized, according to reports from local media and law enforcement officials.

The Toronto Police Service confirmed that five individuals were rushed to hospitals with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, while one person succumbed to injuries at the scene. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and no suspects have been arrested as of the latest update.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow expressed deep concern over the incident.

“Disturbed by news of the shootings in the Lawrence Heights area this evening. My office is in contact with Toronto Police, who are on scene and investigating, along with Deputy Mayor Mike Colle,” Chow said in a social media statement.

She also thanked emergency personnel for their swift response during a “very busy and challenging scene.”
