Minor injuries reported in Chanderkote crash; most pilgrims resume journey after first aid, rescue ops underway
July-5, 2025: At least 36 devotees sustained injuries on Saturday morning when a bus involved in the Amarnath Yatra convoy rammed into four stationary buses in the Chanderkote area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district.
The convoy had paused for breakfast at a designated halt when the mishap occurred. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, Kulbir Singh, one of the buses failed to brake in time, triggering a chain collision involving multiple vehicles. The force of the impact led to panic and left dozens of pilgrims injured.
“Pilgrims suffered minor injuries. The majority were given first aid on-site and are continuing their pilgrimage,” SSP Singh said. However, he noted that “three to four pilgrims may not be able to proceed further due to more serious injuries.”
Rescue operations are currently underway, with local authorities ensuring medical assistance and safety measures for the rest of the convoy.
