February 28, 2025: A strong earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale struck Nepal’s Sindhupalchowk district, 65 km east of Kathmandu, during the early hours of February 28, 2025. The tremors were felt in Bihar, including Patna, and parts of Bhutan and Bangladesh.

Ganesh Nepali, a senior official in Sindhupalchowk, told Reuters, “It shook us from our sleep strongly. We rushed out of our home. People have now returned home. We have not received any reports of damage or injuries so far.”

Pasang Nurpu Sherpa, chairman of the Bhote Koshi rural municipality, where the epicenter is located, confirmed that the earthquake triggered a landslide at Dugunagadi Bhir, but added, “There are no houses around the site of the landslide.”
