May 21, 2025: The Ministry of External Affairs has announced that 750 pilgrims have been selected for the 2025 Kailash Manasarovar Yatra, following a transparent, computerized draw conducted by Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh. The sacred pilgrimage is set to begin in June and continue through August.
This year, the yatra attracted an overwhelming response, with 5,561 online applicants, including 4,024 men and 1,537 women. The final selection comprises 750 yatris, who will journey in 15 batches—five via the Lipulekh route and ten via the Nathu La route. Each batch will include 50 participants along with two liaison officers (LOs).
According to an official release from the Ministry, both the Lipulekh and Nathu La routes are now fully motorable, significantly reducing the physical demands of the journey and making it more accessible to a broader range of participants.
The selection process used a fair, random, computer-generated system that ensured gender balance. Selected yatris are being notified through SMS and email, while others can verify their status through the official Yatra website https://kmy.gov.in or by calling the helpline at 011-23088133.
Addressing the selected pilgrims, Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh emphasized the government’s efforts to make the pilgrimage safer, more inclusive, and environmentally responsible. He encouraged yatris to undertake the spiritual journey with humility, mutual care, and respect for nature.
In a social media post, the Minister congratulated those selected and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe and meaningful experience for all participants.
