Sunrisers Hyderabad gun down 246-run target with ease, powered by Abhishek Sharma’s fastest IPL century by an Indian

Abhishek Sharma unleashed an absolute masterclass at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, hammering 137 off just 53 balls* to help Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) chase down a mammoth 246-run target against Punjab Kings (PBKS) with 9 balls to spare. His knock included 12 sixes and 9 fours, rewriting multiple IPL records and taking SRH to a stunning 8-wicket win.

Sharma’s innings also overtook KL Rahul’s previous highest score by an Indian in an IPL chase, and his century—reached in just 40 balls—became the fastest IPL hundred by an Indian this season.
PBKS Post Monster 245, But It’s Not Enough
After opting to bat first, PBKS were powered by Shreyas Iyer’s explosive 82 off 36, and Marcus Stoinis’ four consecutive sixes in the final over off Mohammed Shami. Contributions from Prabhsimran Singh (42 off 23) and Priyansh Arya (36 off 13) gave PBKS a dream start as they reached 89/1 in the powerplay and closed their innings at 245/6.
However, their bowlers had no answers to the carnage that followed.
SRH’s Record Chase – The Abhishek Show
Opening with Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma blazed through the powerplay, reaching his fifty in just 19 balls. The duo added 171 runs for the first wicket before Head departed for 58 (31). Abhishek, unfazed, kept the scoreboard ticking with fearless hitting.
He celebrated his hundred by pulling out a note from his pocket, dedicating the milestone to the “Orange Army”, SRH’s fanbase.
Despite some late wickets, the game was sealed when SRH reached 246/2 in just 18.3 overs, making it one of the fastest 200+ chases in IPL history.
