Abhishek says post-match chat with Rathi resolved their on-field altercation during SRH’s power-packed chase that knocked LSG out of IPL 2025 playoffs

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), May 20:
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Abhishek Sharma has confirmed that his brief on-field altercation with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spinner Digvesh Rathi has been resolved after a post-match conversation between the two. The incident occurred during SRH’s successful 206-run chase at the Ekana Stadium on Monday, which not only earned them a win but also eliminated LSG from the IPL 2025 playoff race.

The flashpoint came when Rathi dismissed Abhishek and followed it up with a provocative “notebook” celebration, leading to an exchange of words between the two players. Addressing the incident at the post-match presentation, Abhishek said:
“I spoke to him after the game, and it is all good now.”

Reflecting on his performance, the southpaw added,
“We had a clear plan chasing 200+. I just wanted to express myself. That’s something I carry from international cricket as well — to back my instincts. When I do well, I know the team benefits.”

Abhishek was once again instrumental for SRH, blasting 59 off 20 balls, including four fours and six sixes, forming a crucial 82-run partnership with Ishan Kishan (35 off 28). His explosive start laid the foundation for SRH’s six-wicket win, further powered by Heinrich Klaasen’s 47 and Kamindu Mendis’ 32, who put on a steady half-century stand.

Earlier in the match, LSG rode on fiery fifties by Mitchell Marsh (65) and Aiden Markram (61) to post 205/7. Eshan Malinga (2/28) was the standout bowler for SRH, supported by Harshal Patel, Harsh Dubey, and Nitish Kumar Reddy, who took a wicket each.

With this result, SRH climbed to eighth on the table with nine points (four wins, seven losses, one no result), while LSG slid to seventh with 10 points and are now officially out of playoff contention.
