Indian athlete Amoj Jacob has expressed the team’s ambition to clinch a gold medal in the 4x400m relay at the upcoming Paris Olympics. The men’s relay team, featuring Muhammad Anas Yahiya, Muhammad Ajmal, Arokia Rajiv, and Jacob, will compete on August 9 at Stade de France.
Speaking ahead of the event, Jacob shared the team’s high hopes and determination to excel. “We are very excited and working very hard for it. We aim to perform better than last year and have our sights set on the gold medal. We will try our best to come back with a medal,” Jacob said.
However, Jacob emphasized that the primary focus is to first qualify for the final. He urged fans to support and pray for the team. “Our initial goal is to qualify for the final. We will give our best effort. Keep us in your prayers so that we don’t face any problems. We will perform at our best, and hopefully, your heartbeat will race as fast as ours when we are running,” he added.
Both the men’s and women’s teams will represent India in the 4x400m relay event at the Paris Olympics. The women’s team, comprising Rupal Chaudhary, M R Poovamma, Jyothika Sri Dandi, and Subha Venkatesan, secured their Olympic spot by finishing second at the World Athletics Relays earlier this year.
The men’s team also finished second in their heat with a combined time of 3 minutes and 3.23 seconds, earning their place at the Paris Games.
