Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter Shiloh is embracing a new chapter—and a new name. The 19-year-old appeared at a Los Angeles event this week under her fresh moniker, Shi Joli, marking a significant step in her personal and professional journey.

On Thursday, May 29, Shiloh was spotted at a dinner in Los Angeles celebrating the launch of fashion designer Isabel Marant’s collection with Net-A-Porter, Variety reported. Rather than just attending, she took on a creative role as choreographer for musician Luella’s live performance of her single “Naïve,” featuring dancers Keoni Rose and Tako Suzuko.

A press release about the event referred to her as Shi Joli—reflecting her decision to legally drop “Pitt” from her last name last year. Born Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, she officially filed for the name change on her 18th birthday in May 2024, a move that was finalized in court later that year, PEOPLE confirmed.

Shiloh’s evolution comes alongside her growing dedication to the arts. She’s no stranger to the world of performance and dance, having trained at Los Angeles’ Millennium Dance Complex and worked with renowned choreographer Kolanie Marks. Marks has often praised Shiloh’s “commitment to a craft that is extremely hard,” sharing clips of her confident dance moves on Instagram.

“She’s getting so good! I’m happy that she’s sticking to the training,” Marks wrote in an Instagram Story earlier this year, capturing her progress and passion for dance.

This artistic flair seems to run in the family. Shiloh’s younger sister, Vivienne, 16, also appears to be asserting her independence, using “Vivienne Jolie” rather than “Vivienne Jolie-Pitt” in the Playbill for the Broadway musical The Outsiders, which she helped produce alongside their mother.

Their older sister Zahara, 20, has also made a similar shift. When joining the Mu Pi chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College last year, she introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie,” a video shared by Essence confirmed.

The name changes come amid a backdrop of ongoing tension between Jolie and Pitt, who have been locked in a prolonged legal battle over custody and their French winery, Chateau Miraval, since their 2016 split. While the children’s decisions signal their desire to forge their own identities, they also highlight the lingering family divides.

A source close to Pitt shared with PEOPLE that the actor is deeply hurt by Shiloh’s choice to drop his name. “He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them,” the source said.

Despite these challenges, Jolie’s lawyer has emphasized her priority remains the well-being of their children. “All Angelina has ever wanted was separation and health, with positive relationships between all members of their family, including Mr. Pitt,” the lawyer stated.

As Shiloh—now Shi Joli—continues to find her voice and forge her artistic path, she’s doing so on her own terms, stepping confidently into a new era that blends family legacy with personal expression.
