Anurag Basu Confirms Title Change for Aashiqui 3, Denies Rumours of Triptii Dimri's Exit Over Sexualised Image Concerns
February 4, 2025: Anurag Basu has set the record straight regarding the casting changes in his upcoming romantic drama, Aashiqui 3. Recent rumors suggested that actor Triptii Dimri was dropped from the project due to her “overtly sexualized” image after her bold roles in Animal and Bad Newz. However, the filmmaker dismissed these speculations, citing scheduling conflicts as the real reason behind her exit. Basu also revealed that Aashiqui 3 will undergo a title change, with the new title and female lead to be announced soon.
Speaking to HT City, Anurag Basu clarified, “The image was not the reason. I am the last person to judge an actor on the basis of the characters they have played on screen. The issue was purely about dates. Triptii is currently shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj’s Arjun Ustara, while my film goes on floors this month. She is still my best friend, and I really like her as an actress. You should ask her too what happened.”

Triptii Dimri had been paired opposite Kartik Aaryan in the much-anticipated sequel. The duo previously worked together in the blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. While Kartik remains attached to the project, the hunt for the female lead continues, with Basu hinting at an official announcement within a week.
Basu also addressed the claims that Triptii’s exit stemmed from concerns about her “purity in demeanour” or her bold roles in Animal. Refuting these allegations, he told Mid-Day, “That’s not true. Triptii knows it too.”
Meanwhile, Triptii Dimri has a packed schedule. She is currently shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj’s Arjun Ustara alongside Shahid Kapoor and is also set to appear in Karan Johar’s Dhadak 2 with Siddhant Chaturvedi.
