Centurion [South Africa], November 14 – India’s Arshdeep Singh became the country’s second-highest wicket-taker in men’s T20Is as India clinched an 11-run victory over South Africa in the third T20I in Centurion. Arshdeep, now with 92 wickets in 59 innings at an economy rate of 8.34 and an average of 18.47, surpassed Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar to reach this milestone and is just four wickets away from overtaking Yuzvendra Chahal as India’s all-time T20I wicket leader.
In comparison, Bumrah has 89 wickets from 69 innings with an economy of 6.27, while Bhuvneshwar has 90 wickets from 86 innings at an economy of 6.96.
Recapping the match, South Africa won the toss and chose to field. For India, Abhishek Sharma (50 off 25) and Tilak Varma (107* off 56) powered India to a strong total of 219/6 with their remarkable partnership. Although other Indian batters struggled to make an impact, Sharma and Varma’s efforts set a challenging target.
On the South African side, Andile Simelane and Keshav Maharaj each took two wickets, leading their bowling attack.
During the chase, Heinrich Klaasen (41 off 22) and Marco Jansen (54 off 17) kept the Proteas in the hunt with explosive knocks. However, Arshdeep Singh’s impressive bowling, both with the new ball and in the death overs, proved crucial. Arshdeep took three wickets for 37 runs in his four overs, while Varun Chakaravarthy contributed with two wickets, helping India close out the game.
