Baloch Rights Group Calls for End to ‘Genocide’ After Two More Youths Go Missing
Balochistan [Pakistan], March 7 – The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has once again raised alarm over enforced disappearances in Balochistan, sharing details of two Baloch youths abducted in recent days.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), BYC reported that:
- Qurash Ahmed, a 22-year-old laborer, was forcibly disappeared from Kech, Balochistan.
- Sajjad, a law student, was abducted from Islamabad.
The organization condemned these actions, calling for an immediate halt to what they describe as “Baloch genocide.”
“The systematic targeting and disappearance of Baloch youth must end. These abductions are part of a larger pattern of oppression,” BYC stated.
A Worsening Human Rights Crisis in Balochistan
Enforced disappearances in Balochistan have long been a critical human rights issue, with numerous individuals—including activists, journalists, and political figures—vanishing without explanation.
The Pakistani military and intelligence agencies have been widely accused of carrying out these disappearances, particularly against those involved in the Baloch nationalist movement, which demands greater autonomy and rights for the region.
