BCCI Secretary Saikia Confirms India Will Follow Jersey Guidelines Of ICC For Champions Trophy
January 22, 2025: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that it will be adhering to the jersey guidelines set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. This confirmation was provided by BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia. The statement comes in response to earlier reports suggesting that India might not include the host country’s name, Pakistan, on their jerseys since all of India’s matches will be played in Dubai.
Saikia emphasized that the BCCI would follow the official jersey guidelines laid out by the ICC for the prestigious tournament. The ninth edition of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy will take place from February 19 to March 9, 2025, with matches being played in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. This eight-team tournament will feature 15 50-over matches, with India’s group stage matches set to be played in Dubai.
India will kick off their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 and then face arch-rivals Pakistan on February 23. Their final group match will be against New Zealand on March 2.
In the tournament, India is placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, while Group B features the 2023 Cricket World Cup champions Australia, Afghanistan, England, and South Africa.
