Bengaluru AI Startup Offers ₹40 Lakh Salary for Skilled Engineers – No Resume Needed!
February 27, 2025: Bengaluru-based AI company Smallest AI has sparked buzz on social media with its unconventional hiring process. Founder Sudarshan Kamath announced a ₹40 lakh per annum package for a full-stack engineer, emphasizing that resumes and educational qualifications are not required. Instead, applicants need to submit a 100-word introduction along with links to their best work.

Kamath’s post described the ideal candidate as a “cracked full-stack engineer”, a slang term suggesting an exceptionally skilled developer who excels at both front-end and back-end development with strong problem-solving abilities.
The announcement has drawn mixed reactions. Many praised Kamath’s skills-first approach, shifting the focus away from degrees and traditional resumes. However, others debated whether ₹40 lakh is sufficient compensation for a “cracked” engineer, considering Bengaluru’s high cost of living.
💬 “Don’t add ‘cracked’ if you can’t pay a cracked salary. Respectfully, it’s not a good look for you and your company,” one user commented.
💬 Another noted, “Indiranagar is so expensive that after taxes, rent, and expenses, savings will be minimal.”
While the salary package is attractive, the emphasis on demonstrated skills over degrees is what truly sets this job opportunity apart. Whether this bold hiring strategy will attract top-tier tech talent remains to be seen.
