BJP has already ensured victory in upcoming state elections, says MoS Nityanand Rai

Patna (Bihar) [India]: Union minister of state for home affairs Nityanand Rai said on Tuesday that the BJP has already ensured victory in the upcoming Assembly elections to be held in five states, as the public heavily trusts Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his work.

“Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is saying that his party has already won half of the election. But I will say the BJP has won the entire election. BJP doesn’t do anything special for elections.BJP has gained the trust of the people based on its work. Women’s Reservation Bill has made an impact. People heavily trust PM Modi and BJP has already ensured victory in upcoming elections,” MoS Rai said while speaking to media.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday released its first list of the 41 candidates for the assembly elections in Rajasthan hours after the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the date for the polls.

The names of the candidates were finalized at a meeting of its Central Election Committee (CEC) that was chaired by the BJP President JP Nadda on October 1.

BJP has fielded Rajyavardhan Rathore, an MP from Jhotwara, while another MP Diya Kumari has been fielded from Vidhyadhar Nagar. Rajasthan Assembly has 200 seats.

Meanwhile in Madhya Pradesh BJP released its fourth list of candidates for the assembly polls with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to contest again from his traditional seat of Budhni. The list of 57 candidates has some prominent names including Narottam Mishra, Govind Singh Rajput, Gopal Bhargava, Rajendra Shukla and Omprakash Sakhlecha. Madhya Pradesh has 230 assembly seats.

The Election Commission on Monday announced the schedule for assembly polls in Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana. Elections will be held in Mizoram on November 7, Chhattisgarh on November 7 and November 17, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 23 and Telangana on November 30.

The counting of votes will take place on December 3 in all the states. With this, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force with the announcement of poll dates.

The elections to five states are crucial as they are being held months before the Lok Sabha elections in April-May next year. Congress and BJP are the key players in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Telangana is expected to witness a triangular contest between the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Congress and BJP.
