Blackouts, Blasts, and Drones: Pakistan Launches Third Consecutive Night Attack on Northern India

Drones intercepted across Jammu, Punjab, and Rajasthan as explosions rock border towns; sirens and blackouts deepen civilian anxiety.

New Delhi, May 9 – Tensions escalated dramatically along the India-Pakistan border late Friday evening as Pakistan launched its third consecutive night of drone and artillery attacks targeting multiple areas across northern India. Army sources confirmed that drones were spotted over Jammu, Samba, Pathankot, Barmer, Jaisalmer, and Sri Ganganagar, triggering widespread blackouts and panic.

The Indian Army swiftly engaged the aerial threats, deploying anti-drone measures across affected sectors. Explosions were reported from several regions, including Jammu, Poonch, Barmer, Pokhran, and even over Srinagar, where a loud blast was heard at approximately 9:22 pm.

As the situation unfolded, sirens blared in multiple towns while artillery rounds were fired by Pakistani forces across the Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor, Samba, and Poonch. Verified visuals from Barmer captured drones flying overhead, further validating fears of continued incursions.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took to social media urging residents to stay indoors and refrain from spreading unverified information. He posted a photo of Jammu city in complete darkness, saying, “It’s my earnest appeal to everyone in & around Jammu: stay off the streets and stay safe. We will get through this together.”

The Indian Armed Forces remain on high alert amid Operation Sindoor, India’s counter-offensive initiated in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Tonight’s aggression marks a dangerous turn in the conflict, as border areas brace for more hostile activity.
