BSF Foils Major Infiltration Bid in Samba, Explosions Rock Rajouri and Poonch Amid Cross-Border Tensions
Jammu, May 9, 2025 –
Amid intensifying India-Pakistan hostilities, the Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted a major infiltration attempt by suspected terrorists along the International Border (IB) in Samba district, Jammu and Kashmir, late Thursday night.
“At around 11 PM on May 8, 2025, BSF foiled a major infiltration bid at the International Boundary in Samba,” the force said in an official statement on social media platform X.
It remains unclear whether the infiltrators were injured or neutralised. Officials confirmed that a thorough search operation will be carried out at first light to determine further details.
Simultaneously, explosions were reported near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri and Poonch, indicating further cross-border firing and possible artillery use. In Uri, Baramulla district, a civilian woman identified as Nargis Begum was killed, and another woman was injured after a shell hit a moving vehicle near Mohura.

The injured civilian, Hafeeza, has been shifted to GMC Baramulla for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Pakistani forces also carried out artillery shelling in Akhnoor, another strategic region in Jammu. As of now, no casualties or injuries have been reported from that area.
These developments follow Pakistan’s failed missile and drone attacks on military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur earlier on Thursday — all of which were successfully intercepted by Indian air defence systems.
India had launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, executing precision strikes on nine terror camps across Pakistan and PoK in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.
