Carlos Alcaraz Advances to Wimbledon Final After Defeating Medvedev

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz has advanced to the final match of Wimbledon 2024 after defeating Russian tennis star Daniil Medvedev 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in the semi-final clash at Centre Court on Friday.

Despite losing the first set to Medvedev’s dominance, Alcaraz bounced back, winning the next three sets to secure his place in the final. He will face either Novak Djokovic or Lorenzo Musetti, who will compete in the second semi-final later today.

In the quarterfinals, Alcaraz overcame United States’ Tommy Paul with a score of 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2, despite dropping the first set. The 21-year-old Spaniard rallied to win the next three sets, setting up a meeting with Medvedev. Medvedev reached the semi-final by defeating World No. 1 Jannik Sinner of Italy in a thrilling five-set quarterfinal match, with a final score of 6-7(7), 6-4, 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-3.
