CBI Secures Sanction to Prosecute Satyendra Jain in Disproportionate Assets Case
New Delhi, January 13: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has obtained sanction to prosecute senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi minister Satyendra Jain in a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case. The agency has also filed a supplementary chargesheet on January 4, 2025, after completing further investigation in the matter.
Special Judge Jitendra Singh has scheduled the case for consideration on January 22. Jain and other accused, who were earlier charge-sheeted in 2019, are currently out on bail.
The supplementary chargesheet comes after extensive investigations by the CBI. The court, noting delays in filing the supplementary chargesheet, directed the DIG, CBI to expedite the approval process, ensuring timely progress in the case.
The supplementary chargesheet was finally filed on January 4, 2025. The matter will now be considered by the court on January 22, marking a critical step in the legal proceedings against Jain.
The case revolves around allegations of disproportionate assets against Jain during his tenure as a Delhi minister. The initial chargesheet filed in 2018 accused Jain of accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income.
With the recent sanction to prosecute and the supplementary chargesheet, the matter is poised for further legal examination in the coming days.
