Ceasefire Now In Effect. Don’t Violate It”: Trump Declares Truce After Iran’s Final Missile Barrage

US President Donald Trump confirms the Israel-Iran ceasefire is officially underway following Tehran’s final wave of missile attacks. The truce was brokered amid rising fears of wider conflict after US-Iran and Israel-Iran strikes.

Washington, June 24, 2025:
US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that the ceasefire between Iran and Israel is now officially in effect, following days of escalating hostilities and retaliatory missile attacks. The announcement comes after Iran fired five waves of missiles, with its final barrage landing just moments before the truce began.

THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT,” Trump posted on his Truth Social account, marking the formal start of what he described as a “phased” 24-hour ceasefire process.

The ceasefire deal, brokered by Trump in a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, required Iran to halt all operations first at 0400 GMT Tuesday, with Israel following 12 hours later, assuming Iran complied.

Last-Minute Missile Strikes

According to Iran’s semi-official SNN news agency, Tehran launched its final round of missiles just before the ceasefire deadline, targeting Israeli-occupied territories and reportedly killing at least seven people in southern Israel.

Once the missile attacks ceased, the Israeli military lifted public safety restrictions, declaring that citizens no longer needed to stay near shelters.

“The Home Front Command has announced that the requirement to remain near protected spaces throughout the country has been lifted,” a statement read.

US Base in Qatar Also Targeted

The ceasefire announcement followed a night of high tensions, after Iran struck a US military base in Qatar, an act Trump dismissed as a “weak” retaliation to US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend.

A senior White House official told Reuters that Israel agreed to the ceasefire on the condition that Iran would cease all further attacks. While Tehran confirmed its participation in the truce, Iranian Foreign Minister added a caveat: Iran would not fully disengage unless Israel completely halted its offensive operations.

Background of the Conflict

The current crisis began on June 13, when Israel launched a full-scale military offensive against Iranian targets, citing concerns over Tehran’s alleged near-completion of a nuclear weapon. The conflict quickly escalated as Iran and Israel exchanged waves of air and missile strikes. Over the weekend, US forces joined the fray, targeting Iranian nuclear facilities.

Though Iran denies possessing or seeking nuclear weapons, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a stark warning:

“If we wanted to develop a nuclear weapon, world leaders wouldn’t be able to stop us.”

The world now watches cautiously to see whether the fragile truce will hold — or collapse under renewed aggression.
