The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was embroiled in controversy after Pakistan’s name was missing from the tournament logo during the India vs Bangladesh Group A match broadcast in Dubai. The issue sparked a social media uproar, with many questioning the omission of the host nation’s name.

During the tournament opener, the official logo included “Pakistan” as the host nation. However, in India’s match against Bangladesh, Pakistan’s name was absent, raising concerns about whether this was intentional or an oversight.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) quickly addressed the issue, stating that it was due to a technical glitch.
📢 ICC Spokesperson Statement:
“The omission was due to a graphics-related technical issue, which will be rectified from tomorrow. It was not possible to change the logo during the match.”
However, despite this informal clarification, reports indicate that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially requested an explanation from ICC regarding the incident.
🏏 Former cricketers, fans, and analysts took to social media to express their opinions on the controversy. While some saw it as an unfortunate error, others speculated about intentional tampering due to political tensions between India and Pakistan.
PCB’s concern over this incident comes at a time when there have been ongoing discussions regarding match venues and security concerns for the tournament in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh shared his thoughts on the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash in the Champions Trophy. Speaking on JioHotstar’s ‘Greatest Rivalry Returns’ show, he stated that Pakistan holds an advantage over India due to their experience of playing in Dubai.

“I actually think Pakistan has an advantage because they have a base in Dubai. They have played a lot of cricket there and understand the conditions well. On slower wickets, both India and Pakistan have players who play spin well, but adaptation will be key in this rivalry.”
Unlike the ICC 50-over and T20 World Cups, where India has dominated, Pakistan leads the Champions Trophy head-to-head 3-2. Their biggest victory came in the 2017 final, where they defeated India by 180 runs in a stunning performance.
With both teams heading into the high-voltage clash, this incident adds another layer of drama to an already intense rivalry.
As the tournament progresses, all eyes will be on the Champions Trophy logo during India’s next match to see if the issue has been fully resolved.
