Champions Trophy: Virat Kohli Takes Drastic Measures to Overcome Poor Form Before India vs Pakistan Clash
February 23, 2025: 🏏 Kohli’s Intense Training to Counter Spin Ahead of High-Stakes Match
Virat Kohli is leaving no stone unturned ahead of India’s blockbuster Champions Trophy 2025 clash against Pakistan. The former India captain arrived at the ICC Academy a full two hours before the scheduled training session, working specifically on his weakness against spin.

The 36-year-old batter has struggled against spinners in recent ODIs, with his latest dismissal against Bangladesh’s leg-spinner Rishad Hossain adding to his woes. Kohli has now been dismissed six times in a row by spinners in ODIs, including recent dismissals to England’s Adil Rashid.
Recognizing this challenge, Kohli faced an extended spin-heavy net session, tackling leg-break bowlers, off-spinners, and left-arm spinners to rectify his approach before facing Pakistan’s spin attack.
Pakistan’s spin options include leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed, off-spinner Salman Ali Agha, and part-time left-arm spinner Khushdil Shah. While not the strongest spin attack, Kohli’s recent struggles mean he cannot afford to take them lightly.
However, India’s primary challenge will be handling Pakistan’s pace trio of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah—who are under pressure after a poor outing against New Zealand.

With the Dubai pitch expected to be slow, India’s five spinners—Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar—could play a major role in the match.
India are in a comfortable position after their win over Bangladesh, but for Pakistan, this is a must-win game.
Kohli’s dedication and early arrival to practice showcase his hunger to regain form. With a history of rising to the occasion against Pakistan, will he deliver a match-winning knock in Dubai?
