Check Out Why Mitchell Marsh Takes A Step Back From Bowling For Upcoming T20I Series Against England
Mitchell Marsh, Australia’s captain for the T20I series against England, has confirmed that he is not expecting to bowl during the three-match series starting on Wednesday.
This decision comes after Marsh has been recovering from a hamstring injury he sustained during his time with the Delhi Capitals in the IPL earlier in 2024. Although his recovery has been slower than expected, Marsh has expressed confidence in the team’s deep pool of all-rounders, including Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis, and Aaron Hardie for seam bowling, along with spin options like Travis Head and Cooper Connolly.
Marsh last bowled in international cricket before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies, where Australia was eliminated in the Super 8 stage after losses to Afghanistan and India. Reflecting on that campaign, Marsh described it as a “disappointment,” and acknowledged that the team did not perform their best at crucial moments. However, he remains optimistic about the future and looks forward to leading the side in upcoming matches.
Australia recently swept a T20I series against Scotland 3-0, showing dominant performances with both bat and ball. The T20Is against England are expected to provide a good challenge ahead of the following five-match ODI series.
