November 27, 2024: It looks like Dexter fans are in for an exciting new chapter with the upcoming prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin. The show will delve into Dexter Morgan’s early years, exploring how he grapples with his growing violent urges while learning to control them under the guidance of his adoptive father, Harry Morgan.
Set in 1991 Miami, the series will focus on Dexter’s transition from a student to the beginning of his journey as a serial killer with a moral code. Patrick Gibson steps into the role of young Dexter, with Michael C. Hall reprising his iconic role as Dexter’s inner voice. Christian Slater plays Harry, who teaches Dexter the “Code” that will define his killings. This dynamic between father and son promises to be central to the show’s exploration of Dexter’s psyche.
The trailer hints at the tension and moral dilemma Dexter faces, with Harry warning him about blending in and the risk of ruining everything, while Dexter acknowledges the complexity of living out his dark urges for the first time.
The series boasts a solid supporting cast, including Molly Brown, Christina Milian, James Martinez, and even Sarah Michelle Gellar as a special guest star. It’s also great to see Dexter creator Clyde Phillips back as an executive producer.
