
Cyclone Alert: IndiGo Flights and Tamil Nadu Coast Brace for Adverse Weather
New Delhi, November 28: IndiGo Airlines has alerted passengers of disruptions to flight operations as a deep depression in the southwest Bay of Bengal intensifies, moving toward Tamil Nadu. The adverse weather is impacting flights to and from Chennai, Tuticorin, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, and Salem.
In a post on X, IndiGo stated:

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has ramped up efforts to ensure the safety of seafarers, coordinating closely with Tamil Nadu state agencies. Ships, aircraft, and radar stations are issuing warnings and advising fishing boats to return to harbors as the depression is expected to develop into a cyclone.
“Deep Depression in the #BayofBengal likely to intensify into a cyclone and move towards #Tamilnadu, as per #IMD. @IndiaCoastGuard Region HQs (East) is coordinating with state agencies to ensure seafarers’ safety,” the ICG posted on X.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the depression moved north-northwestward at a speed of 3 kmph over the past six hours and is projected to intensify further.

The IMD predicts the system will intensify into a cyclonic storm within the next 12 hours and approach the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts by the morning of November 30 as a deep depression.
Passengers are advised to check flight status updates frequently and plan travel accordingly. Coastal communities and fishermen have been urged to heed warnings and safety protocols to minimize risks associated with the incoming storm.
