Delhi CM Atishi Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Olympic-Standard Shooting Range in Kalkaji School

Equipped with advanced air pistols, electronic target systems, and world-class training facilities, the new range symbolizes Delhi’s education and sports revolution.

New Delhi, January 6: In a significant milestone for Delhi’s education and sports infrastructure, Chief Minister Atishi inaugurated a world-class 10-meter shooting range at Kalkaji Government School No. 3 on Sunday. The facility, boasting 15 shooting lanes, an electronic target system, and Olympic-grade air pistols, reflects the city’s ongoing education and sports transformation.

From ‘Tent Schools’ to World-Class Sports Infrastructure

Highlighting the remarkable journey of Delhi’s government schools, CM Atishi said, “From leaky tent schools to an Olympic-style shooting range, this is the story of Delhi’s education revolution.” She emphasized that Delhi’s schools now house top-tier facilities, including 25 swimming pools, seven football grounds, and three hockey turfs built in recent years.

A Platform for Future Olympians

CM Atishi expressed optimism about the future, stating, “I firmly believe that children from Kalkaji and nearby areas will soon represent India at the Olympics and bring home medals.” She praised the state-of-the-art infrastructure and urged students to make the most of these opportunities.

High-End Shooting Equipment

The newly launched shooting range is equipped with:

  • 8 Morini CM-162E 0.177 caliber air pistols
  • 2 Hammerli AR20 Pro rifles
  • 2 Feinwerkbau 800 Evolution Top rifles
  • 2 Walther LG400 Anatomic rifles
  • 1 LG400 Expert-E (electronic trigger)
  • 1 LG400 Monotec-M (mechanical trigger)

Additionally, the facility features 8 air rifle stands, refill cylinders, and a Bauer Junior II compressor. The availability of 100 packets each of RWS R10 Match Rifle and Pistol air pellets ensures ample resources for training sessions.

Investment in Sports and Training Costs

The Chief Minister’s office provided insights into the financial commitment involved in setting up and maintaining such facilities.

  • Air rifles and pistols: ₹50,000–₹3,00,000
  • Ammunition: ₹500–₹2,000 per tin
  • Shooting gear (jackets, gloves, shoes): ₹10,000–₹50,000
  • Coaching fees: ₹2,000–₹25,000 per month

A Bright Future for Delhi’s Youth

CM Atishi concluded her speech with hope and pride, highlighting how Delhi Government Schools are now equipped to nurture Olympic-level talent. She also emphasized the need for continued commitment to improving both academic and sports facilities across government schools in the city.

The launch of this state-of-the-art shooting range not only underscores Delhi’s focus on education and sports development but also sets a precedent for future sports initiatives aimed at empowering young athletes.
