Delhi LG VK Saxena hoists Tricolour at Raj Niwas on 77th Independence Day

New Delhi [India]: Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Tuesday hoisted the National Flag at Rajniwas on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day.

On the occasion, LG Saxena extended his warm wishes to all, especially residents of Delhi.

Remembering the martyrs and the heroes of India’s freedom struggle, the LG said it is “because of their supreme sacrifices that our generation has been living freely.”

“During this period of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, we have given shape to the action plan for the coming 25 years, which will build India at 100 in 2047,” he said.

LG Saxena also felicitated Delhi-based 98-year-old veteran freedom fighter R Madavan.

Madavan was born in Rangoon, Burma (Now Myanmar). His father and grandfather were originally from Sivagangai District, Tamil Nadu. He joined the Azad Hind Fauj at the age of 18 on November 1, 1943, and he was the Recruitment Officer and fundraiser of Azad Hind Fauj.
