Delhi Police Women Constables Reunite 104 Missing Children with Families

New Delhi, November 23: Showcasing their dedication and compassion, two women head constables of the Delhi Police, Seema Devi and Suman Hooda, reunited 104 missing children with their families over the past nine months. Their exemplary work, carried out under the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit in the Outer North District, highlights the humane side of law enforcement.

A Mother’s Perspective:
Head Constable Seema Devi shared her emotional motivation:
“Our team in the nine months have reunited 104 missing children with their families… we are happy after doing this… I am a mother, and I can understand the pain of the parents whose children went missing, therefore we were more interested in finding the missing children,” she said.

On how the role became a calling for her, she added, “It was normal posting as part of the job but later I started liking it, and now I feel like I have been made for this only.”

Challenges of the Role:
Head Constable Suman Hooda reflected on the difficulties of tracing missing children, particularly younger ones:
“Finding young children is tough work as compared to finding older children as they have no details of their families… We are going to continue this work. Our target is to reach 200 and more in a year.”

Balancing her role as a police officer and a mother, Hooda remarked, “It gets very tough to leave your own child at home, but they also understand that their mother will return back.”

Overcoming Challenges:
The duo faced numerous hurdles during their operations, including limited information, lack of photographs, language barriers, and navigating unfamiliar locations. Despite these obstacles, their determination ensured the successful reunion of the children with their families.
