As Delhi elections near, Jaishankar criticizes AAP for lacking essential services, while AAP’s Sanjay Singh claims a landslide victory.
New Delhi, February 2 – External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi government, accusing it of failing to provide essential services to residents. With the Delhi Assembly elections set for February 5, Jaishankar urged voters to consider a change in government, claiming that Delhi has been left behind over the past decade.
Speaking at an interaction with the South Indian Community of Delhi on ‘Viksit Delhi-Viksit Bharat’, Jaishankar expressed his disappointment over Delhi’s lack of access to central welfare schemes, such as Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat, and LPG cylinder subsidies.
“Whenever I visit foreign countries, I hide one thing from the world. I feel ashamed to admit that people in India’s capital city do not have proper housing, gas cylinders, piped water, or access to Ayushman Bharat healthcare,” he said.
Calls for Change in Delhi Government
Jaishankar further criticized AAP’s governance, stating that Delhi residents have been denied their basic rights to water, electricity, gas, and healthcare.
“If the government here does not give you your rights, then on February 5, you should think about changing this government,” he urged voters.
The Union Minister also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting India’s strong economic growth despite global downturns.
“Ever since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, the world’s perception of India has changed. While other economies struggle, India continues to maintain a 6-7% growth rate.”
AAP Confident of Landslide Victory
Meanwhile, AAP MP Sanjay Singh dismissed the criticism, expressing confidence that AAP will secure a massive victory in the upcoming elections.
“AAP will win more than 60 seats in the 70-seat Delhi Assembly, and Arvind Kejriwal will return as Chief Minister with an absolute majority,” Singh told reporters.
A Three-Way Political Battle in Delhi
With just days left before polling, the battle for Delhi is intensifying between three major contenders:
🟢 AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, aiming to retain power.
🟡 BJP, backed by the central government, pushing for a change.
🔵 Congress, seeking a political revival in the capital.
Delhi’s 70 Assembly seats will go to the polls on February 5, with results to be declared on February 8.
