Delhi Polls: Rahul Gandhi Slams Kejriwal Over ‘Liquor Scam’

As the Delhi elections approach, Rahul Gandhi accuses AAP of corruption, while Kejriwal urges BJP supporters to vote for AAP to retain welfare benefits.

New Delhi, February 2 – With the Delhi Assembly elections just days away, the political battle has intensified. Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of betraying the promise of clean politics and looting public money through what he called the “biggest liquor scam” in the national capital.

At a campaign rally, Gandhi criticized Kejriwal’s governance, taking aim at his unfulfilled promises on corruption, pollution control, and cleaning the Yamuna River.

“The political fight between Congress and BJP was ongoing. Then, Kejriwal entered the scene, claiming he would change Delhi’s politics, eradicate corruption, and clean the Yamuna,” Gandhi said.
“But what happened? Instead, Kejriwal and Sisodia carried out the biggest liquor scam, looting crores of rupees from the people. Five years ago, Kejriwal promised to drink Yamuna’s water. Forget Yamuna, I challenge him to drink Delhi’s tap water—he will fall sick!”

Kejriwal’s Counterattack: Vote for AAP to Keep Welfare Benefits

Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal, in a bid to consolidate his voter base, made a direct appeal to BJP supporters, urging them to vote for AAP to retain key welfare schemes such as free electricity, water, healthcare, and education.

Kejriwal shared an encounter with a BJP supporter, emphasizing how AAP’s schemes benefit even BJP voters.

“A few days ago, a BJP supporter asked me, ‘Arvind ji, what if you lose?’ I replied, ‘What will happen to you if I lose?’ His children study in government schools because they are now better. I asked him—‘In which BJP-ruled state are schools better than ours?’ He admitted, ‘None.’”

Kejriwal warned that if AAP loses the election, Delhi residents would face an additional financial burden of Rs 25,000 per year as welfare schemes could be discontinued under a BJP-led government.

“If I lose, free electricity, water, healthcare, and bus rides for women will all stop. Can you afford this loss? Vote for AAP—not for me, but for your family.”

Delhi Elections: The Final Showdown

With the Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 5 and vote counting on February 8, both AAP and BJP are making last-minute efforts to secure voter confidence.

While AAP leaders continue to claim that a BJP-led government would halt welfare schemes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leaders have denied these allegations, assuring that the programs will continue.

As the political drama unfolds, Delhi voters now face a crucial decision—whether to stick with AAP’s governance model or give BJP a chance to lead the capital.
