Delhi University organises special talk programme on Teacher’s Day

New Delhi [India]: The Delhi University organised a discussion on the topic ‘Role of teachers in nation building’ on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.

Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal was present as the chief guest in this program organized under the joint aegis of the Value Addition Curriculum Committee (VAC) of the University of Delhi and Bharat Vikas Parishad, while Suresh Jain, Rashtriya Sangathan Mantri of Bharat Vikas Parishad and former Justice of Supreme Court Adarsh Goyal were present in the program as special guests.

The program was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi, Yogesh Singh.

During the programme, Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, in his address, shared several anecdotes referring to the non-political incidents in the life of former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

He also remembered former President APJ Abdul Kalam, who gave importance to teaching work after his retirement from the post of President.

Meghwal remembered Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Sukhdev and Shaheed Rajguru as well as Durga Bhabhi and said that she was also an unsung heroine of the freedom struggle.

Meghwal narrated the memoirs of his life and told how his wife ensured and continued his education by paying his fee of two rupees.

Presiding over the program, Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi, Yogesh Singh said that the habit of reading actually makes a person a teacher.

The Vice-Chancellor called upon the present teachers to read at least 12 books in a year.
The Vice-Chancellor said that teachers have an important role in nation-building. The life and speech of teachers should be inspiring.

The Vice-Chancellor said that teachers are a very important tool in the work of making India a developed nation by 2047. The Vice-Chancellor also extended hearty greetings to all the teachers and students on Teacher’s Day.

Speaking at the program, former RSS Sarkaryavah Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi said that the development of any country cannot be measured by modern-day arithmetic and scientific methods.

“Western countries have set the parameters of development on their own basis. Their development is assessed on the basis of these measures. Compared to the Indian thought, they are of a very low level. Only a person with material prosperity is considered superior,” Bhaiyyaji Joshi said.

Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi said in his address, “If we consider two sides of development, then one side is prosperity which India has never neglected nor will India ever do. India has been a glorious golden land and will remain a golden land, but its other side is how a person will become on the mental level. This side will also need to be strong.”

Speaking as a special guest in the program, Suresh Jain, Rashtriya Sangathan Mantri of Bharat Vikas Parishad, introduced the guests. He said that only teachers can make this country a “sone ki chidiya” again.

During the programme, the book “India as Vishwa Guru” written by Justice SN Aggarwal was also released. Former Supreme Court judge Adarsh Goyal, who was present as a special guest on this occasion, gave detailed information about the book.

The Convenor of the program, Chairman of the Value Addition Course Committee and Dean of Planning of the University of Delhi, Niranjan Kumar welcomed the guests and gave detailed information about the program.

He said that in the last two years, a lot of good work has been done in the University, the only name behind which is Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh. Under his leadership, Delhi University implemented National Education Policy 2020, as a pioneer for the same in the country.

Several dignitaries, Deans, Heads of Departments, Professors and researchers from the academic world, police, administration, law and industry, including Vice-Chancellors of various universities, were present in the program.
