“Disgusting Savagery”—Israeli Deputy FM Condemns Hamas for Parading Israeli Coffins

Sharren Haskel Calls Gaza Procession an “Evil, Medieval Punishment”

Tel Aviv [Israel], February 26: Israel’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sharren Haskel, has strongly denounced Hamas’s public display of Israeli prisoners’ coffins, calling it “disgusting savagery” and likening the act to “an evil, medieval punishment.”

“Over the weekend, Hamas returned the bodies of the Bibas family, and we received confirmation that they were murdered in cold blood by Hamas monsters—with their bare hands,” Haskel stated from Jerusalem.

Haskel Condemns Public Parade of Bibas Family Coffins

Haskel expressed outrage over the public procession of the Bibas family’s remains in Gaza, describing how Palestinian civilians, including children, were brought out to witness the event.

“Gazan civilians brought their children to watch the terrorists parade Israeli coffins—reminiscent of some sort of evil, medieval punishment. What sort of savages kill innocent babies and their mother and then parade their coffins in public? This is truly disgusting savagery,” she said.

Haskel extended condolences to the Bibas family, adding that she was attending the funeral of another slain Israeli, Oded Lifshitz.

“May the memory of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas be a blessing. I am today attending the funeral of Oded Lifshitz—may his memory be a blessing,” she added.

Israel Urges EU to Stop Funding Terrorist Payments

Haskel also discussed the Israel-EU Association Council Meeting in Brussels, where Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar urged European Union leaders to halt any indirect funding of Hamas.

“We urged the EU to take action against the Palestinian Authority’s ‘Pay-for-Slay’ policy, ensuring that EU funds do not support payments to terrorists and their families,” she stated.

She highlighted Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s recent declaration that the Palestinian Authority will continue financial support for prisoners, even if it means exhausting its funds.

Israel Affirms Freedom of Worship During Ramadan

Addressing concerns over the upcoming Muslim holy month of Ramadan, Haskel reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to religious freedom, dismissing false claims by Hamas and Iran about restrictions on worship.

“Israel remains committed to ensuring freedom of worship for all faiths. Access will be maintained to the Temple Mount for Muslim worship during Ramadan, based on the same guidelines as in every other year, despite Hamas, Iran, and other terror groups spreading false claims to incite violence,” she emphasized.

As tensions escalate, Israel continues to demand accountability from Hamas and international actors who support them, while reinforcing its security policies amid the ongoing conflict.
