At the same time, Trump suggested a softer diplomatic approach, stating that Washington was ready to work with Tehran on tariff and sanctions relief. He claimed that Iran could ease uranium enrichment and that several points in the US peace proposal had already been accepted. Discussions between the two sides are expected to cover broader economic measures, alongside efforts to stabilise relations after weeks of conflict.
The ceasefire, however, remains fragile. JD Vance described the truce as uncertain, warning Iran ahead of upcoming talks in Pakistan. As part of the agreement, Iran has reportedly agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route. While the US maintains that its military objectives have largely been achieved, it has cautioned that further options remain on the table if negotiations fail, underscoring the delicate balance between pressure and diplomacy.
