Two drones fall near Dubai International Airport as Gulf tensions escalate
March 11, 2026: A drone-related incident near Dubai International Airport has left four people injured, according to the Dubai Media Office. Authorities confirmed that two drones fell in the vicinity of the airport, triggering immediate security alerts. The injured include two Ghanaian nationals, one Bangladeshi citizen and one Indian national. Officials said all four sustained minor injuries and received prompt medical treatment, while airport operations in Dubai continue normally without disruptions.
Security forces launched rapid checks after the drones were detected near the airport. Authorities have not yet confirmed the origin of the drones or whether they were intentionally launched. The incident occurred amid heightened regional tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel, which has led to increased drone and missile activity across the Gulf region. Defence systems in the United Arab Emirates have reportedly intercepted several aerial threats in recent hours.
The drone incident comes as Iran has reportedly intensified counter-attacks across Gulf nations including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait. In a separate development, a drone strike reportedly caused a fire at the Ruwais Refinery in Abu Dhabi, temporarily halting operations. Meanwhile, the Government of India and the Embassy of India in UAE are monitoring the condition of the injured Indian national and advising citizens in the UAE to remain alert and follow local safety instructions.
