Ektaa Kapoor Hints at Priyanka Chopra in Naagin Reveal
Producer says Naagin was first planned as a film before becoming a TV franchise
February 7, 2026: Producer Ektaa Kapoor has revealed that her hit supernatural series Naagin was originally conceived as a feature film, not a television franchise. Speaking on a podcast hosted by Usha Kakade Productions, Ektaa shared that she had once approached two major film stars with the concept. While one actor declined the offer, another initially agreed but later moved to the West, prompting her to rework the idea for television.
Reflecting on Indian storytelling traditions, Ektaa spoke passionately about the power of mythology and folklore. She said Indian audiences have grown up with tales of naagins and revenge, yet such narratives are often overlooked in favour of Western superheroes. Emphasising the cultural depth of these stories, she explained that this belief eventually shaped Naagin into a long-running and successful television series.
Ektaa’s comments sparked speculation on social media, with many users convinced she was hinting at Priyanka Chopra. Fans pointed out that Priyanka moved to the US around the time Naagin was in its early conceptual stage. While Ektaa did not name the actor, the revelation has reignited curiosity about what could have been if the folklore-based story had made it to the big screen.
