Election Commission Can Now Deliver Voter ID Cards in 15 Days: How to Apply and Track Online

ECI launches real-time tracking and faster EPIC delivery via NVSP and ECINet to enhance voter convenience

New Delhi, June 19, 2025 – The Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced a new system ensuring that Voter ID cards (EPICs) are delivered within 15 days of an update in the electoral roll — a major leap from the earlier timeline of over a month.

🆕 What’s New? Real-Time EPIC Delivery & Tracking

The ECI aims to streamline voter registration and card delivery using digital tools and postal integration:

  • Real-Time Tracking: From generation to doorstep delivery, applicants can now track the status of their EPICs.
  • SMS Alerts: Voters will receive stage-wise SMS notifications during processing and dispatch.
  • IT Integration: A new module on ECINet connects directly with the India Post API to track and expedite delivery.
  • Secure Workflow: Workflow re-engineering ensures faster service without compromising data privacy.

You can register for a new voter ID card via the National Voters’ Services Portal (NVSP):

  1. Visit: https://www.nvsp.in
  2. Sign Up: Click “Sign-Up” (top-right corner), enter mobile number, email, captcha.
  3. Create Account: Add your name and password, request and verify OTP.
  4. Log In: Use mobile number + password + OTP.
  5. Fill Form 6: Choose “Fill Form 6” for new voter registration.
  6. Provide Details: Enter personal, contact, relative, and address details.
  7. Upload Documents: Upload required ID and address proof.
  8. Preview & Submit: Verify all data and click submit.

Once you’ve submitted your application, tracking is simple:

  1. Log in to NVSP with your credentials.
