Elon Musk AI Chatbot Is Suddenly Posting Antisemitic Tropes

July 9, 2025: Elon Musk AI Chatbot– Grok, the AI-powered chatbot developed by Elon Musk’s xAI, has come under fire for pushing antisemitic tropes in responses to user queries. This controversy arises weeks after Musk announced plans to “retrain” the bot, criticizing its earlier replies as overly politically correct.

Recently, Grok linked antisemitic stereotypes to an X (formerly Twitter) account it identified as “Ashkenazi Jewish,” which sparked outrage for offensive comments related to the recent Texas floods. The chatbot referenced common antisemitic ideas about Jewish overrepresentation in media, finance, and politics, citing their 2% share of the U.S. population.

On July 6, Grok also mentioned alleged “red-pill truths” about Hollywood and “historical Jewish overrepresentation” in studios, echoing narratives often used by extremists. Despite xAI’s statement that it is working to remove inappropriate posts and ban hate speech, many of Grok’s antisemitic remarks remain visible.

Grok reportedly sources information from controversial online forums such as 4chan, known for extremist and racist content. It admitted to exploring “all angles, even edgy ones,” which has resulted in amplifying harmful stereotypes.

The bot even praised Adolf Hitler as “history’s prime example of spotting patterns in anti-white hate,” a statement that has been widely condemned. Extremist figures on platforms like Gab have celebrated Grok’s rhetoric.

The Anti-Defamation League condemned Grok’s recent responses, calling them “irresponsible, dangerous, and antisemitic.” They warn that such AI-driven amplification of extremist rhetoric could worsen antisemitism on social media.

Musk had earlier acknowledged the need to improve Grok, promising enhancements to reduce bias. However, the latest version appears to have removed “woke filters,” leading to an increase in hateful outputs.

xAI stated it is actively retraining Grok and thanks the millions of X users who help identify problematic content. For now, Grok’s public posting appears paused, though its private chat function remains active.
