Elon Musk Trolls Trump Over ‘Truth Social’ Amid Escalating Feud and Launch of America Party
July-7, 2025: The war of words between Elon Musk and Donald Trump escalated dramatically over the weekend, with the Tesla and SpaceX CEO mocking the former president’s social media platform Truth Social, even as he continued to campaign for his newly announced America Party.
The latest round began after Trump posted a scathing rant on Truth Social calling Musk a “trainwreck” for his attempts to disrupt the two-party system by launching a third political outfit. Trump’s criticism came in response to Musk’s recent social media posts outlining his vision for an “America Party” that aims to break the traditional Republican-Democrat deadlock.
Responding swiftly on X (formerly Twitter), Musk posted, “What’s Truth Social?” — a pointed jab that instantly went viral and drew thousands of reactions. The comment not only mocked the relevance of Trump’s platform but also signaled Musk’s readiness to intensify his challenge to the political establishment — and to Trump himself.
Interestingly, Musk was one of Trump’s key donors during the 2024 presidential election cycle. Their relationship, however, has deteriorated quickly in recent months, especially since Musk began criticizing the “Big, Beautiful Bill”, a legislative cornerstone of Trump’s administration.
The rift widened further when Musk began teasing the idea of launching a third political party, claiming it was essential to “save the middle man” and counter what he described as the “Republican/Democrat uniparty.”

Despite the back-and-forth, Musk continues to post actively about the America Party, though the organization is yet to be formally registered with the Federal Election Commission (FEC).
Musk’s post “never heard of Truth Social” was particularly striking because he had earlier acknowledged the platform’s popularity during Trump’s election campaign, even suggesting at one point that Truth Social was outperforming X and TikTok on the Apple Store.
This contradiction has fueled speculation about whether Musk is simply trolling Trump or seriously positioning himself as a third-force disruptor in the American political landscape.
Trump’s team, for now, has refrained from further comment on Musk’s America Party posts, but insiders suggest that the former president is unlikely to ignore this rising challenge for long. With Musk’s global influence and massive online following, his entry into politics—even without a formal structure—has the potential to shake up the already volatile 2026 midterm race and the 2028 presidential cycle.
As things stand, Elon Musk appears committed to pushing the envelope — not just in technology and space, but also in reshaping American politics, one troll at a time.
