The Indian Army released video evidence confirming the destruction of a Pakistani Mirage jet, highlighting the success of indigenous air defence systems during Operation Sindoor.

India today officially confirmed the downing of a Pakistani Mirage fighter jet during Operation Sindoor, as the Indian Army shared video footage of the wreckage. The operation was launched on May 7 in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people, including 25 Indian tourists and one Nepali national.

At a high-level joint press briefing in New Delhi, top commanders from the Army, Air Force, and Navy shared new operational details. The Pakistani Mirage, reportedly involved in a retaliatory strike, was successfully intercepted by India’s air defence network.
“Our battle-proven systems stood the test of time and took them head-on,” said Air Vice Marshal AK Bharti, adding, “A major highlight has been the stellar performance of the indigenous Akash air defence system.”
The briefing was led by Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai (DGMO), Air Vice Marshal Bharti (Director General Air Operations), and Vice Admiral AN Pramod (DG Naval Operations). The officials emphasized that the seamless integration of India’s tri-service assets, combined with robust government support for defence modernization, contributed to the mission’s success.

Operation Sindoor lasted 25 minutes, targeting nine terrorist hubs—four in Pakistan and five in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The Indian government said that more than 100 terrorists were eliminated in the strikes, and terror infrastructure linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen was destroyed.
