Ex Cricketer Robin Uthappa Faces Arrest Warrant Over Provident Fund Fraud Allegations

Ex-cricketer Robin Uthappa accused of failing to deposit employees’ PF contributions; given till December 27 to settle dues or face arrest.

December 21, 2024: Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa is facing serious legal trouble after an arrest warrant was issued against him in connection with an alleged Provident Fund (PF) fraud. The warrant, issued by Regional PF Commissioner Sadakshari Gopal Reddy on December 4, accuses Uthappa of failing to deposit ₹24 lakh worth of PF contributions deducted from his employees’ salaries into their provident fund accounts.

Uthappa serves as the Director of Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Pvt Ltd, a Bengaluru-based clothing company. The warrant claims the company failed to remit PF dues totaling ₹23,36,602, despite deducting the amount from employee salaries. The notice further emphasized that the non-remittance of funds has hindered the settlement of poor workers’ provident fund accounts, exacerbating the gravity of the situation.

The Regional PF Commissioner directed the police to arrest Robin Uthappa if he fails to clear the dues by December 27, 2024, and return the warrant duly executed.

Robin Uthappa, a celebrated name in Indian cricket, played 59 international matches for India and amassed 1,183 runs with seven half-centuries. He was also a prominent player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and remains a well-recognized face in Indian cricketing circles.

This legal development comes as a shock to fans and followers of the former cricketer, with many awaiting further updates on whether Uthappa will resolve the financial dispute before the deadline.
