Ganderbal (Jammu and Kashmir) [India]: The second edition of the college-level sports festival organised by the Department of Youth Services & Sports concluded at the Government College of Physical Education in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal.
The five-day sports festival started on August 29 with the participation of around five thousand students from 37 universities and colleges across the Kashmir Province.
The festival affirmed an impressive merger of 10 events covering Football (Men), Volleyball (Men & Women), Basketball (Men), Handball (Men), Tug-of-war (Men and women), Kho-Kho (Women), Table-Tennis (Women) and Rouff competitions.
The Sports Festival was organized to provide a platform and stage for the students to showcase their versatility and resourcefulness.
The second edition of the Sports Festival 2023 was organized and systematized to deliver an exhibition place and platform to the youth of UT of Jammu and Kashmir to foster and nurture their talent and steer their energy in a productive and expectant path.
While talking to media, Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, J&K, said, ”This five-day sports festival was organised at Ganderbal and around 5000 players from various colleges and universities participated in the event. In future, we are planning to host national-level sports events here.”
The participating students cum players lauded this step taken by the concerned departments as these types of events bring youths towards sports culture rather than indulging in drugs or other bad activities.
